European enterprises increase demolition activities in last year
The fourth edition of the European Demolition Industry report shows 57 percent of european demolition enterprises declared an increase of their business in 2017 in comparison with 2016. The report includes information about the evolution of the companies in 2017 and the forecast for 2018. The document provides a visual overview of Europe’s demolition industry from data gathered in 2018 and showcases the evolution from 2015, when the first EDA annual report took place. It includes forecasts and specific information involving company and activity, volume of business, evolution of the demolition activities, investment in demolition machinery, equipment and consumables, evolution of the workforce and business prospects. All data is collected directly from demolition contractors from all over Europe. It is presented at a European level and country by country. The languages used in this publication are English and the official language of the country being analysed. The document is for sale in three different formats: printed copy, online version or Printed Copy + Online version. Second option includes free online access to previous editions.
Circular Economy and energy recovery get together in Ecomondo

Italy prepares GIC, an event dedicated to concrete
GIC, Giornate Italiane del Calcestruzzo/Italian Concrete Days will hold in Piacenza, from Novembre 8th to 10 th. GIC is the only Italian event dedicated to the machinery, equipment, products and technologies of the concrete industry, the prefabrication and restoration of reinforced cement structures, also in seismic areas. Considering the success of its first edition also for the number of non-Italian exhibitors and visitors, the 2nd edition of the GIC has been listed by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development in the special category of Italian events of international interest which will definitely increase the number of foreign qualified operators at GIC 2018. This fact will enhance the international significance of the Piacenza event, with the organization of a gala evening held at the same time, for the presentation of the ICTA-Italian Concrete Technology Awards on November 9th in the Hall of Tapestries of the Alberoni College of Piacenza. An important moment of meeting and recognition for Italian businesses and professionals in the industry who differentiated over the previous eighteen months through innovation and results achieved.

Hazardous Waste Challenges for Demolition Contractors
Demolition practices go hand in hand with waste management. Nowadays, Europe is trying to move towards a more sustainable and ecological economy model and regulations on waste disposal directly alter the conditions of construction and demolition businesses. Contractors are often faced with hazardous waste during their work, and these, along with the way must be managed, are different in every country. This report offers a practical overview of which are the most prominent hazardous waste issues in Europe (including asbestos) and how each country takes care of them. It analyses the challenges of waste management, why these are important to demolition contractors and suggestions on “demolition good practices”. EDA Study Tour Japan 2019: a professional trip to discover the Japanese demolition industry
21/11/2018 The European Demolition Association presents the EDA Study Tour Japan 2019: a new edition of the professional trip which was held once several years ago, that will take place in Japan, from 19 to 24 May 2019. The purpose of this project is to know the Japanese demolition industry state of art, disaster risk reduction strategies (earthquakes, tsunami) and circular economy methodologies implemented in the demolition and decommissioning work sites. Along six days, EDA members will get a first-hand look at the Japanese know-how during the visits to several manufacturers, demolition sites and specialized contractors. The EDA Study Tour 2019 will start and end in Tokyo, from May 19 (Sunday) to 24 (Friday), and will include the travel to several cities and locations, to visit (throughout Japan) factories, jobsites, equipment demos and other relevant experiences for demolition professionals. The EDA Study Tour 2019 will end with a workshop on Friday afternoon, to meet with the Japanese demolition industry and government officials. German Demolition Association hosts the 25th Demolition Conference in 2019
21/11/2018 On February 15, 2019, the German Demolition Association e. V. (DA) hosts the 25th Demolition Conference at a new location – STATION BERLIN, Luckenwalder Straße in Berlin. As a former mail railway station, STATION BERLIN is an industrial monument which is a perfect match for the demolition industry. At this year’s event, more than 900 participants from 15 countries and 115 exhibitors came to Europe’s largest industry event, so the objectives for 2019 are ambitious. Wolfgang Bosbach, CDU politician, will open the Demolition Conference with his keynote speech on „What counts in times of these”. The following programme features 20 high-level speakers, who will give presentations on current and attractive topics in the field of demolition. There will be many best practice reports on interesting and challenging construction sites, on the handling of recycling building material and its legal requirements. This year participants will be informed about a well-proven range of topics that are available in the programme of the event. Again simultaneous translations of the speeches will be offered in English and French to meet the expectations of international visitors.
